Jappe Dendievel

Under the wings of his mother, Jappe (°2004) already took his first musical steps on the
violin. This was soon followed by the discovery of a wide range of instruments such as
percussion, trombone, bassoon and tuba with successful participations in national and
international youth competitions.

At the age of 11, Jappe came into contact with bassoonist Francis Pollet, as a result of which
things with the bassoon suddenly progressed rapidly and this instrument also became his
instrument of choice. In November 2017, Jappe became laureate of the "Prix
Dominique" in Venlo, where he also won the audience award. Solo performances with
orchestra soon followed, which included concerti of A. Vivaldi, W.A. Mozart, C.M von Weber
and G.Rossini.

He gained orchestral experience both at home and abroad at an early age. Jappe played
with Concertgebouw Orchestra Young, Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra and Youth
Orchestra Flanders, where he performed on stage with internationally renowned conductors
such as Pablo Heras Casado, James Gaffigan, Roberto Gonzalez-Monjas.

Under the wings of his teacher and mentor Francis Pollet and thanks to the I SOLISTI
ACADEMY, Jappe participated in numerous master classes at home and abroad. Sergio
Azzolini, Gustavo Nuñez, Fredrik Ekdahl, Sophie Dervaux and many others can testify to his
exceptional talent. He became first prize winner of the Princess Christina Competition in
2021 and since 2021 he is an I SOLISTI NextGeneration Artist.

Jappe is regularly invited to perform with renowned European orchestras such as, among
others, the Bergen Philharmonic, Orchestra del Teatro Communale di Bologna and the
Münchner Symphoniker. With these orchestras he performed on major international concert
stages such as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Konzerthaus Berlin and Herkulessaal München.

As an active chamber musician, he regularly appears on stage with, among others,
clarinettist Reto Bieri, violinist Lisa Jacobs and horn player Hervé Joulain. As I SOLISTI Next
Generation Artist, he regularly plays in Belgium with pianist Jan Michiels and several wind
soloists from Belgian orchestras.

As a soloist too, Jappe can regularly be seen at home and abroad. In the 22-23 season, for
instance, he made recital débuts in Poland and the Netherlands. Both as soloist and
chamber musician he appeared several times on BR-Klassik, Dutch radio NPO-4 and the
Belgian ‘Klara’ Radio.

Since October 2022, he has continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik und
Theater Munich, in Dag Jensen's bassoon class. Since October 2023, Jappe has also been
studying baroque bassoon with Katrin Lazar.
